Rudrapur: A major theft incident has come to light in the village of Lambakhera, located within the Rudrapur Kotwali jurisdiction of Udham Singh Nagar. Unidentified thieves broke into a house and made off with cash amounting to ₹1.5 lakh and approximately half a kilogram of silver jewellery. Acting on a written complaint filed by the victim, the police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.
Irfan Ali, son of Ismail Hussain and a resident of Lambakhera village, informed the police that when he woke up around 4:00 AM on the morning of May 18, he was left stunned by the scene inside his home. The main bag kept in the wardrobe which contained ₹150,000 in cash and half a kilogram of silver jewellery was missing.
Additionally, approximately ₹6,000 was stolen from a lady’s handbag.
Suspects Flee Leaving Bicycle Behind
Police Seek Clues
Upon searching the bag left behind at the scene, the police recovered some clothing, a pair of slippers, and the purchase receipt for those slippers. The police are now attempting to identify and apprehend the culprits based on these recovered items and the receipt.
Prakash Singh Danu, the in-charge Inspector of Rudrapur Kotwali, confirmed that a case has been registered based on the victim’s written complaint. The police are currently scrutinizing CCTV footage from the area and have expressed confidence that the accused will be arrested shortly.
