Afghanistan: Eleven travellers were killed and another injured when their vehicle plunged into a ravine in Darayem district of northern Afghanistan’s Badakhshan province on Monday afternoon, a local police officer confirmed.

District police chief Sayed Mir Khangar told Xinhua News Agency that the crash was caused by the driver’s carelessness. Among the victims were seven members of the same family.

Series of Deadly Road Accidents Reported

Earlier the same day, six people died and one was injured after a car collided with a bus in the eastern province of Ghazni.

On September 2, police in Jawzjan province reported another fatal crash in Aqcha district, where a car carrying 12 passengers despite having a capacity for only five overturned on September 1, killing eight and injuring four.

Officials blamed reckless driving for the incident, adding that traffic rules were ignored.
