Moscow: At least 26 people were injured after Ukrainian drone attacks targeted Russia’s Moscow region overnight, regional governor Andrei Vorobyov said on Saturday. Russian authorities said air defence systems intercepted dozens of drones, while debris from some strikes caused damage and fires.
Drone debris sparks fire at oil depot, warehouse hit
According to Vorobyov, two people were injured in Noginsk, around 55 km east of Moscow, after debris from a destroyed drone triggered a fire at an oil depot. A nearby maternity hospital and residential building were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
The remaining 24 injuries were reported from Elektrostal, around 60 km east of Moscow, where a drone crashed into a warehouse facility. Some of those injured were reported to be in serious condition.
The governor said the Bogorodsky urban district witnessed the most significant damage. Russian air defence forces claimed to have destroyed 48 Ukrainian drones over the Moscow region during the overnight attack.
Drone strike in Tambov kills seven workers
Separately, a Ukrainian drone strike on a logistics centre in Russia’s Tambov region killed seven people, according to regional governor Evgeny Pervyshov.
The attack reportedly took place at a logistics facility in Kotovsk, where seven night-shift workers died and 24 others were injured. Firefighting operations were carried out after the strike.
Russia, Ukraine continue attacks amid ongoing conflict
The latest drone attacks came as fighting between Russia and Ukraine continued to escalate. Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces carried out multiple strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure, including port facilities, fuel storage sites and military-related locations, over the past week.
The ministry claimed that Russian strikes targeted Ukrainian logistics hubs, defence facilities, ammunition depots and drone production sites. Ukraine has not yet issued a response to the latest Russian claims.
