Mumbai: A meeting regarding the Chief Minister of Maharashtra was held at the house of Home Minister Amit Shah till late night on Thursday. In the meeting which lasted for about two and a half hours, there was also a discussion about cabinet division.
After the meeting, Eknath Shinde said that the meeting was positive and they had discussion with Amit Shah and JP Nadda. Shinde added that this was the first meeting and another meeting of the Mahayuti will be held in Mumbai. The decision on the name of CM will be taken in the meeting of Mahayuti.
According to sources, two observers of BJP will also go to Mumbai on December 1. They will attend the meeting of the Legislative Party and announce the name of the CM. However, the BJP is also considering Maratha leaders for the post of CM in Maharashtra.
After the meeting, Ajit Pawar and Fadnavis left for Mumbai, while Shinde reached his son Shrikant’s house and held a meeting with the MPs. He also returned to Mumbai late at night.
Before the meeting of the Mahayuti leaders, Shah and Shinde discussed alone for about half an hour. At the same time, before reaching Amit Shah’s house, a meeting was also held between Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar.
Shinde had told the media as soon as he reached Delhi on Thursday – Laadla Bhai has come to Delhi. He has earlier said that I will support whatever decision the senior BJP leaders take.
It is believed that caste arithmetic can play a big role in choosing the CM because there are a large number of MLAs from the Maratha community in the 288-seat assembly. Devendra Fadnavis is a Brahmin. In such a situation, the BJP leadership is also considering some Maratha leaders for the CM. However, if sources are to be believed, if the RSS increases pressure, then there is a high possibility of Fadnavis becoming the CM.
At the same time, acting Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has already made it clear that he has told PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah that he will follow the BJP’s choice for the CM post.
Shiv Sena (Shinde) MLA and spokesperson Sanjay Shirsat said, ‘The acting CM will not accept the post of Deputy CM in the new government. This does not befit a person who has already served as chief minister.’
He said, the Shiv Sena led by Shinde will nominate another leader for the post of deputy CM. Shinde’s MP son Shrikant Shinde said, ‘My father has set an example of ‘coalition dharma’ by keeping aside his personal ambition.’
