No relief for AAP MLA Pathanmajra in rape case: Hearing in Patiala court on October 9, absconding for 1 month

A Patiala court heard today the anticipatory bail plea of Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Sanaur, who has been absconding for a month after a rape case was filed against him in Punjab. However, he has yet to receive relief.

The court has now scheduled the next hearing for October 9th. A decision is expected to be delivered during that time. The previous hearing saw arguments lasting approximately two and a half hours. During this hearing, MLA Pathanmajra’s lawyers presented several arguments. However, government lawyers objected.

The case was filed after a complaint.

Pathanmajra made two main arguments in his petition. First, that the case against him is politically motivated. Second, the complaint on which the case was filed was pending for a long time. However, the government lawyer stated that action was taken in accordance with established rules and no one was harassed.

A video was released stating that no hearing was taking place.

A video of Pathanmajra’s wife, Simranjit Kaur Majra, from the hospital went viral. “My family is being punished for speaking the truth,” I call the police officers, but no one listens. He’s not receiving proper treatment. In the video, she named several hospitals where he was being treated.

Let us tell you that his security was withdrawn, and an FIR was filed in a three-year-old rape case. According to police records, an attempt was made to arrest him in Dabri village, Karnal, Haryana, but his supporters opened fire and pelted stones at the police.

In the ensuing commotion, Pathan Majra fled in a Scorpio and a Fortuner, injuring a police officer. Police arrested a supporter, Balwinder Singh, recovered three pistols, and registered a case at the Karnal Sadar police station.
