Sikh ministers and MLAs of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of Punjab will appear at Takht Sri Akal Sahib tomorrow. All the awakened lights will present their side on the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Hospitality (Amendment) Act-2026. During this time, Speaker Kultar Sandhawan will also be accompanying.
CM Bhagwant Mann said that our MLAs and ministers have been called tomorrow on behalf of Takht Sri Akal Sahib. All our MLAs and ministers will go there. Everyone will give their written answer. After this, he will come out and present his side. A written reply has been sought from some ministers, he will give it in writing. We bow to the supremacy of the Akal Takht. I also went there leaving the President’s program.
He said that I have not been called to the Akal Takht. The fake video of the person who imitated me wearing my mask will also be handed over to Sri Akal Takht Sahib along with the letter. The Chief Minister said these things during a press conference in Amritsar on Sunday. AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal was also present with him.
Let us tell you that the Akal Takht does not agree with the new law made by the AAP government regarding sacrilege in Punjab. An explanation will be sought from these ministers and MLAs as to why they approved it.
- Ministers-MLAs will defend the state government: The CM said that every order of Sri Akal Takht Sahib will be followed with full devotion and loyalty, considering it supreme. Ministers and MLAs, including the Speaker, will be present there on Monday and will politely present the state government’s side.

We can’t even think of paying obeisance or competing with Akal Takht Sahib. We will face whatever decision comes from the Akal Takht. Opposition parties are trying to gain political mileage by giving a religious colour to the issue.

- Posters of social boycott outside gurdwaras: He said when politically appointed people sitting in religious positions start taking unilateral decisions to please their political masters, questions naturally arise. The Shiromani Committee has now ordered posters of my social boycott outside the gurdwaras, but why were such posters never put up against Shiromani Akali Dal or Sukhbir Badal, when they themselves had accepted responsibility for the incidents of sacrilege?
- On December 2, Sukhbir Badal and his associates appeared before Sri Akal Takht Sahib and admitted their mistakes, confessed to the crime, took responsibility for the firing incidents and also admitted that orders were issued against the Sangat. Did anyone at that time put up posters outside Gurudwaras to boycott them, as is being done against me today? The company is sensible and the public is supreme.
- Opposition is nervous about my public support: CM “Whenever I go to villages, social events and public meetings, there is huge public support. The opposition parties are unable to tolerate this as they themselves are unable to garner such public support. In this frustration with this strong support, they have started making baseless allegations against me. The people of Punjab will never accept such politics.

Why were the ministers and MLAs summoned? According to Panch Singh Sahiban, the Punjab government passed the Jagat Jyot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Reception (Amendment) Act-2026 without consulting the central Sikh institutions. Also, the objections raised by Sri Akal Takht Sahib were also ignored. Since this law was approved by the Punjab Cabinet and the Assembly, the Sikh ministers of the Punjab government and Sikh MLAs of various political parties have been summoned to appear at the Sri Akal Takht Sahib Secretariat on 29 June 2026 for questioning.
