Amritsar: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders and workers staged a protest today outside the residence of BJP National General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh in Amritsar. Raising slogans against the BJP, AAP workers alleged that the party is attempting to vitiate the atmosphere in Punjab through the politics of religion and hatred.
MLA Dr. Ajay Gupta, who participated in the protest, stated that the BJP is trying to divide people along religious lines, but the people of Punjab will not allow such politics to succeed. He emphasized that the Aam Aadmi Party emerged from a mass movement and its workers would not succumb to any pressure or inducements.
Politics of hatred will not be accepted
Meanwhile, MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal alleged that the BJP has long engaged in the politics of religious polarization in various states and is now attempting to adopt the same strategy in Punjab. He asserted that Punjab is the land of martyrs and patriots, where the politics of hatred will not be tolerated.
Demanded answers on Punjab-related issues
On this occasion, MLA Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar demanded that the BJP clarify its stance on critical issues concerning Punjab. He stated that the BJP should make its position clear regarding matters such as Chandigarh, the Bhakra Dam, Punjab’s water rights, farmers’ interests, compensation for flood victims, and funds for the RDF and health missions.
AAP leaders remarked that Punjab is the sacred land of the Gurus, known for its tradition of love, brotherhood, and social harmony. They reiterated that to maintain an atmosphere of peace and brotherhood in the state, their party would continue to oppose any political move aimed at creating divisions within society.
