The India Meteorological Department reported that, as of 5:30 PM on Tuesday, the depression was located approximately 490 kilometers east-southeast of Chennai in Tamil Nadu. This situation follows the initiation of northeast monsoon rainfall activity in the southeastern part of peninsular India.
