Bihar: At least four Kanwariyas were killed and several others injured when a vehicle struck them on Friday night in Banka district, Bihar, according to police. The Kanwariyas were on their way to the Jast Gaur Nath Mahadev temple after collecting Ganga water from Sultanganj. The injured individuals were taken to a hospital for treatment.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Bipin Bihari confirmed that “some Kanwariyas were hit by a vehicle…4 people have died.” Although there was an initial law and order concern, he noted that the situation is now under control, with police deployed to the area. Following the incident, angry villagers set fire to a police vehicle.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Avinash Kumar, who arrived at the scene, reported, “We immediately responded to the situation… About 10-11 individuals sustained injuries and are being treated… 4 people have died, and the bodies are being processed for post-mortem. The situation is calm, and the administration is fully cooperating… We will conduct a thorough investigation.”
In a separate incident, two individuals were killed and 20 others were injured when a private bus lost control and fell into a ravine on the Balrampur road in the Dheberua police station area of Siddharthnagar, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday night. All victims were residents of Mahankola village in the Shohratgarh tehsil.
