Bus-Truck collision on Purvanchal Expressway leaves 5 dead, 11 injured

A horrific accident took place on the Purvanchal Expressway in Amethi. A truck hit a private bus carrying 60 people. 5 people died in the accident whereas 11 are injured. The collision was so strong that a part of the bus flew off. The accident took place near Shukla Bazar police station at around 2 o’clock on Monday night.

The bus was going from Delhi to Siwan in Bihar. The police have sent the body for postmortem. CO Atul Singh said – The accident took place at 2.30 in the night. 4 died on the spot. One died during treatment.

Out of the 11 injured, 2 are serious. After the accident, there was a huge jam on the expressway. The bus was removed from the way by calling a crane at night.

According to the police, the truck was standing near milestone 68.8 of the expressway. The speeding bus hit it from one side. Due to this, one side of the bus got separated. After the accident, the driver fled from the spot with the truck. Police is tracing the truck from CCTV. At present, the truck has not been found yet.

The deceased in the accident have not been identified yet. Police said that the two seriously injured are Amresh (26) son of Parshuram and Akhilesh Kumar (36) son of Chhotelal, residents of Kerwa, Siwan. Both have been admitted to the district hospital. The passengers with minor injuries have been sent to Siwan by another bus.

CM Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the accident. He has directed the Amethi district administration to conduct rescue operations and provide better treatment to the injured.
