Mumbai: A tragic incident occurred on the set of the popular TV show ‘Anupamaa,’ starring Rupali Ganguly, resulting in the death of a camera assistant. The accident happened on November 14, 2024, in Mumbai, when the crew member, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was electrocuted while operating technical equipment. Reports indicate the individual accidentally came into contact with a live wire, causing a fatal short circuit.
The production company, Rajan Shahi’s Director’s Kut Productions, has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident. The film industry community is in shock and mourning, emphasizing the urgent need for enhanced safety measures on sets to prevent such occurrences. Concerns about safety standards in the entertainment industry have been raised before, including a significant fire last year on the set of ‘Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin,’ which resulted in damage to nearby sets. Such incidents, including regular leopard sightings in Goregaon Film City, have become increasingly common.
In a related matter, actress Rupali Ganguly is facing controversy due to allegations made by her stepdaughter against her father, Ashwin Verma, and Ganguly herself, which were posted in a video that has since been deleted. In the video, Esha claimed, “I stood up against my bullies in life. They not only hurt someone I love—my mother—but also chose to ignore and criticize me, mocking my mental health without apologies.” Esha has also made her Instagram account private following these accusations.
