Portion of three-storey building collapsed, Woman and her two-year-old child injured

Panic gripped the residents in Bandeya Mohalla near Naughar Mohalla after the front portion of a three-storey building collapsed on Tuesday afternoon. In the incident a woman and her two-year-old child suffered injuries as debris fell on them. Fortunately, the woman along with her child managed to walk out from the debris.

The CCTV footage of this horrific incident also surfaced on social media, in which the woman carrying the child is seen running down the street in order to save themselves but the building collapsed and the duo fell on the road after debris hit them.

As per information attained, there were around four to five families residing in the building but as per locals, some of the families had vacated the building and at the time of incident, no one was present in the affected part of the building.

The injured woman, identified as Khushi, was sitting along with her child outside her house, located adjacent to the building. As she noticed bricks raining down, she ran down the street to save herself and her child but within no time, the portion of the building collapsed and debris hit them. Fortunately, the woman walked out with her child and they were rushed to hospital. The condition of both is stated to be stable.

In the incident, around three two-wheelers were also damaged.

After the incident, the police and the fire brigade team reached the spot and initiated an investigation.

According to fire brigade officials, there were three people in another part of the building, they were rescued.

Meanwhile, as per locals, the building was in dilapidated condition for a long time as it is around a century old structure and despite repeatedly asking the owner to get it repaired, he didn’t pay heed to it and today it collapsed.

The police have initiated investigation into the matter and according to the police, action will be taken after recording the statements of the victims.
