The 23rd annual summit between India and Russia took place on Friday in a solemn atmosphere. Two of the world’s greatest leaders, Modi and Putin, embraced each other as if giving a treat to Trump and China. The understandings reached during the summit are expected to strengthen the two countries’ strategic partnership. These agreements are dynamic, encompassing expansion, economic development, and nuclear energy cooperation. Several countries have agreed to take bilateral trade, currently valued at $79 billion, to over $100 billion.
Ignoring Trump’s praise, it was announced that crude oil trade between the two countries will continue, despite any delays. India’s exports will also be enhanced. India will manufacture marine products and agricultural goods, export pharmaceuticals, and mobile phones. Agreements were also signed to establish Indian fertilizer centers in Russia, in addition to those in medicine, education, the environment, and space. There were no other new initiatives in the defense sector. It wasn’t just that promises were made about the joint production of weapons, components, and maintenance of Russian equipment in India. Modi described the four-decade-old friendship between Russia and India as unwavering.
This summit added significant value to the relationship between the two countries. Both countries will trade in their respective currencies as before. The new initiative is a time of global change. Russia announced plans to provide 1 million Indian youth with military jobs. It has been reported that Indians who have immigrated to Russia, some of whom were forced into military service, will no longer face such challenges. Earlier, Putin was given a grand welcome by President Draupadi Murmu. Modi stated that India’s policy is clear and openly supports ending the war between Russia and Ukraine. India has repeatedly advocated for this. Following the Russian President’s inauguration, an economic cooperation program was formulated until 2030, and the countries signed agreements in seven economic sectors, presenting a picture of mutual support. Both countries made it clear that US sanctions would not affect their stance.
Putin mentioned cooperation in building India’s largest nuclear power plant at Kudankulam. India and Russia fully expressed their friendship. After the summit, Prime Minister Modi stated that India and Russia are united against terrorism. A fifth-tier economic alliance was also signed, providing a 30-day free visa for Russian citizens. This agreement will enhance tourism, medical, and trade opportunities. Russia and India signed 16 important agreements, including an agreement to locate an Indian Puri plant in Gam. This agreement included an agreement to strengthen food safety regulations and to acquire advanced technology from Russia in medical research and healthcare. India promised to provide Russia with affordable generic medicines. A decision was also made to make maritime trade faster, cheaper, and more efficient. The movement of workers will be eased and immigration procedures simplified. Both countries pledged to build trade corridors through water and land. They stated that the agreements will help make India strong, powerful, and self-reliant, and will also be a strong counter to the ever-increasing bullying of US President Donald Trump.
