Ahmedabad: Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) on Friday denied media reports and market speculation suggesting that the company is planning to enter the airline business.
The Adani Group company clarified that it is not considering any proposal to launch an airline and termed the reports as “baseless and factually incorrect.”
“We would like to categorically deny the recent media reports and market speculation suggesting that Adani Enterprises is planning to launch an airline,” a spokesperson for Adani Enterprises Limited said.
“These reports are entirely baseless and factually incorrect. Adani Enterprises is not evaluating any proposal to enter the airline business,” the spokesperson added.
Adani Airports Focuses on Airport City Development
The clarification comes amid reports that the Adani Group was exploring expansion into the aviation sector. However, the company said its focus remains on strengthening airport infrastructure and developing integrated airport cities.
Adani Airports recently announced plans to invest more than Rs 20,000 crore in the first phase of developing airport city projects across its airport network in five states.
The project covers a land bank of more than 655 acres across six airports, including major developments in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
Rs 20,000 Crore Investment Plan Across Six Airports
According to Adani Airport City Limited (AACL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Airport Holdings Limited, around 22 million square feet of development is planned across airports in:
- Mumbai
- Navi Mumbai
- Ahmedabad
- Lucknow
- Jaipur
- Guwahati
The projects aim to create integrated urban districts featuring hotels, offices, retail spaces, entertainment zones, convention centres and commercial facilities connected with airport, metro and city transport networks.
Major Focus on Mumbai and Navi Mumbai
Nearly 70 per cent of the planned investment will be concentrated in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, reflecting the region’s importance as a major commercial, financial and aviation hub.
The airport city developments are designed to provide travellers, businesses and local communities with easy access to hospitality, retail, dining and commercial facilities within connected urban spaces.
While rejecting speculation about entering the airline industry, Adani Enterprises said its aviation strategy remains focused on expanding airport infrastructure and related services.
