Adnoc Signs 10-Year LNG Deal With Gujarat Energy to Supply 4 Million Tonnes Annually From 2028

New Delhi: Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) has signed a 10-year supply deal to provide up to four Million Tonnes per year of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Gujarat Energy Ltd (GEL) solidifying its position as a key energy player in India’s growing market.

This long-term Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) will see LNG supplied to Gujarat Energy from the global gas portfolio of XRG, Adnoc’s global investments vehicle. Supplies will begin in 2028.

This is the first sale from the global gas portfolio, marking another key milestone in Adnoc’s efforts to grow its LNG business.

Adnoc Expands LNG Supply Deals in India

This is the fifth LNG supply deal signed by Adnoc within India. In January, Adnoc Gas signed a $3 billion deal with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL), supplying half a million metric tonnes of LNG per year for 10 years.

Overall, Adnoc’s total value of supply contracts signed with India now exceed $20 billion.

“This agreement furthers our long-term energy relationship with Indian customers,” said Rashid Al Mazrouei, Chief Marketing and Origination Officer (LNG) at Adnoc.

“Through our integrated LNG marketing and trading platform, we are connecting our growing international portfolio with customers in key regions across the global markets, while providing India with reliable, flexible and long-term LNG supplies.” This provides India with a secure source of LNG, with flexibility and security.

This agreement will bring non-Gulf produced LNG from the global supplies portfolio of XRG to meet demand in India and marks a key milestone for XRG to become a fully integrated global gas and LNG player.

This partnership will enable the companies to maximise the potential of their partnership, said Avantika Singh Aulakh, Managing Director at GEL.

The company has regasification facilities, a 44 district city gas network spanning six states and increasing its position in the Indian gas trading market.

“Natural gas plays a key role in driving India’s transition to cleaner energy. It provides a low carbon alternative to support increased industrial efficiency and a safer cooking fuel for households whilst promoting cleaner transport,” she said.

Natural gas is set to play a key role in India’s energy transition.

Adnoc Aims For 47 Million Tonnes Of LNG Beyond 2030

This agreement follows the launch of Adnoc’s global LNG marketing and trading solution in July 2026 in the Abu Dhabi Global Market.

The solution has signed supply deals with Inpex in Japan, Gulf Group in Thailand and now Gujarat Energy in India.

Adnoc is aiming to supply 47 Million Tonnes per annum (mtpa) of marketable LNG beyond 2030, making it one of the largest LNG providers globally.

This latest agreement with Gujarat Energy solidifies the energy partnership between the UAE and India and helps the country secure long-term natural gas supplies.
