Air India flight AI-479, en route from Delhi to Amritsar, strayed into Pakistani airspace due to a technical glitch. Following a warning from Pakistan’s air traffic authorities, the aircraft made a U-turn and returned to Indian airspace.
According to reports, the Airbus A321 aircraft took off from Delhi at 9:18 PM on Monday. A technical fault during the flight caused it to deviate from its scheduled route; however, the situation was brought under control in time, and the aircraft was turned back.
Landing Permission Denied in Amritsar
However, permission to land in Amritsar could not be granted because the scheduled landing time had already passed. Consequently, the aircraft was flown back to Delhi, where it landed safely. After receiving fresh clearance about two hours later, the flight took off for Amritsar again and landed safely at Amritsar Airport at 2:20 AM.
Four-Hour Delay for Passengers
Passengers faced a delay of approximately four hours due to this incident. Those who were expected to reach Amritsar by 10:30 PM arrived at their destination late at night. Airport officials stated that the aircraft had deviated from its designated path due to a technical malfunction. The matter is currently under investigation.
