Mumbai: The Indian film industry is in mourning and shock following the sudden demise of veteran actor Nana Patekar at the age of 75. Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar also shared an emotional post remembering Nana Patekar and said that it is hard to believe that he is no longer among us.
Akshay Kumar took to social media to recall his experience of working with Nana Patekar in two memorable films, ‘Welcome’ and ‘Housefull 5’.
Akshay wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the news of Nanaji’s passing. He was one of those rare actors who didn’t need to do much to capture the audience’s attention. His voice, his impact, and his sincerity in every performance… he was a unique individual.”
Recalling their experience working together, Akshay further wrote, “I consider myself fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with him in ‘Welcome’ and then, more recently, in ‘Housefull 5’. There are many memories from the sets of those films that I will always hold close to my heart.”
Describing Nana Patekar as an exceptional artist, Akshay wrote, “Nanaji was truly a one-of-a-kind artist. It’s hard to believe you’re no longer with us. Thank you for all these memories. Your absence cannot be described in words.”
They were first seen together in ‘Welcome’
Akshay Kumar and Nana Patekar first worked together in Anees Bazmee’s 2007 comedy film “Welcome.”
In the film, Akshay played the role of Rajiv, while Nana Patekar played Uday Shetty. This role later became extremely popular.
The pairing of Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor in the film was also very popular with audiences. Anil Kapoor played the role of Majnu Bhai.
Reunited after nearly two decades in “Housefull 5”
After nearly two decades, Akshay Kumar and Nana Patekar reunited for “Housefull 5.” In this comedy film, released in 2025, Akshay played the role of Julius, while Nana Patekar played the role of Superintendent Dhagadu Hulgund.
The film also starred Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, and many others.
Passed away at the age of 75
Nana Patekar passed away on Thursday, October 8, at the age of 75. According to reports, he suffered a massive cardiac arrest at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa.
It was reported that Nana Patekar was found unconscious at home and was then taken to Manipal Hospital.
