Amit Shah Assam Visit Development Projects Youth Meet

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a two-day visit to the northeastern state of Assam, where he is scheduled to inaugurate key development projects and address a major youth conference. The visit is aimed at strengthening development initiatives in the region while also engaging with young citizens and party workers ahead of upcoming political activities in the state.

During his visit, Shah will participate in several government and political programmes and is also expected to hold meetings with senior leaders and officials to review development work and organisational matters.

Inauguration of Pragjyotishpur Medical College

One of the major highlights of the visit is the inauguration of the Pragjyotishpur Medical College and Hospital in Guwahati. The medical facility is expected to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the region and improve access to advanced medical services for people living in Assam and nearby areas.

Officials say the new institution will help increase the number of trained medical professionals in the state and reduce pressure on existing hospitals. The project forms part of broader efforts by the government to improve healthcare facilities across the northeastern states.

Address to thousands of young participants

After the inauguration ceremony, Shah will attend a large youth convention organised by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) at the Veterinary College Playground in Khanapara, Guwahati.

The event is expected to attract around 60,000 young participants from different districts of Assam, including students, entrepreneurs and first-time voters. During the conference, the Home Minister will interact with the youth and encourage them to actively contribute to the nation’s development and social progress.

The youth conference is being seen as one of the largest youth outreach programmes organised in the state, highlighting the importance of engaging young citizens in governance and development initiatives.

Meetings with party leaders and officials

Apart from public programmes, Shah is also expected to meet senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and review organisational strategies in the state. These discussions may focus on political developments and preparations for upcoming elections.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other senior leaders have welcomed the Home Minister during his arrival in Guwahati and are accompanying him at several events during the visit.

Focus on development in Northeast India

The visit reflects the central government’s continued focus on the development of northeastern states, particularly in sectors such as healthcare, infrastructure, and youth empowerment. Over the past few years, several infrastructure and welfare projects have been launched in Assam to strengthen economic growth and connectivity in the region.

Officials believe that initiatives such as new medical institutions, youth engagement programmes and infrastructure projects will help improve employment opportunities and accelerate development across the state.

The Home Minister’s visit is expected to reinforce the government’s commitment to the growth of Assam and the wider Northeast region while encouraging young citizens to play an active role in shaping the future of the country.
