Karnal (Haryana): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday, November 5, lashed out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Karnal during a BJP padyatra, saying that the opposition does not bring any substantive issues to the house and creates chaos. The minister also said that the Congress has lost the polls repeatedly since 2024 under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.
The Home Minister was accompanied by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and former CM Manohar Lal Khattar. Khattar was walking on one side of Amit Shah while Saini was on the other.
The padyatra was organised as a part of BJP’s ‘Save Democracy, End Anarchy’ campaign amid political tussle over Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and accusations of vote theft by the Congress.
Amit Shah Lashes Out At Rahul Gandhi For Creating Chaos In Parliament
Shah said in his address that the people of India voted for PM Narendra Modi for his third consecutive term and that the Congress has lost polls repeatedly since 2024 under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi.
“The cornered cat has no escape so it climbs up the pillar and scratches that,” he said.
“Rahul-ji, you create chaos in Parliament and do not bring any substantive issues. You have made creating chaos a part of the Congress party culture. Now you are taking people on the roads to create chaos and you can be compared to an anarchist,” he said.
The Union Home Minister also urged Rahul Gandhi to come to Parliament to debate. He said the BJP is ready to hold a special session of parliament for the debate.
Shah Says 3 Crore Names On Voter Rolls Are Infiltrators
The Minister also justified the electoral roll revisions and said that 6.25 crore names were removed because these people died or migrated to other states.
Around 3 crore people are also infiltrators as they could not appear before the Election Commission.
“Rahul-ji you can try to shout for these infiltrators but we will find them one by one and make sure that they are removed from the country,” he said.
He also urged Rahul Gandhi to debate on the electoral rolls issue and said that the Congress has lost polls even from states and constituencies where there was no SIR process.
The Union Home Minister has accused the opposition of spreading misinformation and said that the Congress should stop accusing and start debating.
Amit Shah Leads With ‘Jai Shri Ram’ Slogans
The minister led the people in shouting slogans in favour of PM Narendra Modi.
However, when the noise decreased he asked people of Haryana to shout louder.
“What happened to the voice of people of Haryana? Let your voice reach Rahul Gandhi. Make a fist and shout ‘Jai Shri Ram’ for Narendra Modi,” he said.
The Home Minister also raised the national flag.
Short Padyatra In Karnal
The padyatra was much shorter than what was originally planned.
It was initially planned to be 1.4 kilometers long but was reduced to 350 meters and finally ended after 150 meters.
Ahead of Amit Shah’s arrival, BJP workers and supporters gathered. Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini, former CM Manohar Lal Khattar, BJP leader Smriti Irani and other leaders were also present.
CM Saini Refers To Amit Shah As ‘Iron Man’
The Haryana CM greeted the minister and referred to him as an Iron Man.
He said that the opposition does not have anything other than lies and that the Congress is trying to create a misleading narrative for voting list revisions.
“We periodically revise our electoral rolls. However, the Congress is trying to spread lies in the country,” he said.
He added that the BJP has got the mandate of the people for 3 consecutive terms in Haryana.
BJP Leaders Accuse Congress Of Spreading Lies
Former state president of BJP Mohan Lal Badoli said that the Union Home Minister came to Karnal to address the allegations of vote theft by INDIA bloc parties.
“We should know how the Congress is stealing votes. They should also tell us who is doing this. They are not raising any allegations in the constituencies where they have won,” he said.
Krishan Bedi, a member of Haryana Cabinet said that it is the duty of the BJP to go to the voters and address the allegations.
Mahipal Dhanda, Education Minister said that the Congress is trying to spoil democracy but the BJP will not let this happen.
Around 22 People Arrested Ahead Of Shah’s Arrival

They had reportedly informed via WhatsApp that they will protest against a UGC decision.
These include Surendra Badaut, President of Brahmin Sabha, Rakesh Sharma and Mohar Singh Rana.
“We got information that there might be some trouble so we will not let the situation get out of hand,” said DSP Gorakhpal Rana.
