Setback for Amritpal Singh’s Party: Paramjit Kaur Khalra Opts Out of Tarn Taran Bypoll

Tarn Taran: Pro-Khalistan Amritpal Singh’s party, Akali Dal Waris Punjab De, has suffered a setback for the by-elections to be held in Tarn Taran, Punjab in the coming few months. Amritpal Singh’s father had announced to field Paramjit Kaur Khalra, the wife of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, to contest the by-election. But, Khalra Mission Organization has refused to contest the elections.

Khalda Mission Organization held a meeting in Tarn Taran this afternoon. In which it was decided that Bibi Paramjit Kaur Khalda will not contest the upcoming by-election. In 2019, she contested the election to expose the face of evil sinners. Contesting elections is not her profession, she contested elections only in special circumstances.

Now Amritpal Singh’s father Tarsem Singh has also taken back his words. He said that Paramjit Kaur Khalra was not declared the party’s candidate. He had only declared Paramjit Kaur Khalra as the party’s first choice candidate for these by-elections.

Amritpal Singh himself is an MP

Talking about Amritpal Singh, who is said to be a Khalistan supporter, he is the current MP from Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha constituency. He won by about 1.97 lakh votes. The special thing is that Amritpal Singh contested this election while being in jail and the National Security Act was also imposed on him.

The party was announced this year

Amritpal Singh’s father Tarsem Singh and close MP Sarbjit Singh Khalsa had announced the Akali Dal Waris Punjab De Party in January this year. Before this, this party has neither contested any election nor any by-election. Just yesterday, Amritpal Singh’s father Tarsem Singh had talked about contesting the Tarn Taran by-election. He said that Amritpal Singh is an MP from Khadoor Sahib and Tarn Taran is a part of it. In such a situation, the party will definitely contest this election.
