In a significant development in the Amritsar District Manager suicide case, Congress Members of Parliament have written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah. In the letter, MPs have sought a CBI investigation into the death of Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, a District Manager with the Punjab Warehousing Corporation in Amritsar.
According to the letter, an FIR dated March 21, 2026, was registered at Ranjit Avenue Police Station in Amritsar, naming Punjab Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar along with others. The MPs expressed serious concern over the incident, calling it a matter of public interest that requires a fair and transparent investigation.
The issue was earlier raised in Parliament by Gurjeet Singh Aujla. In response, the Home Minister had indicated that the case could be referred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), provided a formal request was submitted to him.

In their communication, the MPs urged the Centre to immediately hand over the probe to the CBI to ensure a time-bound and impartial investigation. They also demanded the issuance of a Look Out Circular (LOC) against the accused to prevent them from leaving the country during the course of the probe.
The letter has been jointly signed by MPs including Charanjit Singh Channi, Gurjeet Singh Aujla, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, and Dharamvir Gandhi.
The MPs emphasized that transferring the case to the CBI would help reinforce public confidence and uphold the rule of law
