Amritsar: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking and illegal arms supply, the Commissionerate Police Amritsar has dismantled three major drug and illegal arms supply networks, arresting eight accused and recovering 9.549 kg of heroin, 5.459 kg of opium and one illegal .30-bore pistol.

According to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav, preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused were allegedly linked to foreign-based smugglers and were receiving consignments of heroin, opium and illegal arms through drones for further distribution.

Police Trace Links With Wider Supply Network

The investigation has also established links between the arrested accused and other associates allegedly involved in the supply network. Police are now working to identify additional persons connected with the network and trace its wider operations.

Three FIRs Registered in Amritsar

Separate FIRs have been registered at Police Station Cantonment, Police Station A-Division and Police Station Chheharta in Amritsar.

Further investigation is underway to uncover the complete backward and forward linkages of the network and identify others involved in the alleged drug and illegal arms trafficking.
