Amritsar: In a major crackdown, Amritsar Rural Police has dismantled two alleged illegal arms and narcotics supply networks, apprehending four accused and recovering 10 kg of heroin and 10 illegal pistols, according to Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused are allegedly linked to foreign-based smugglers and were involved in procuring illegal weapons and narcotics, the DGP said.
Two FIRs Registered At Gharinda Police Station
Police have registered two separate FIRs at Police Station Gharinda, Amritsar, in connection with the seizures.
Further investigation is underway to uncover the complete network and establish the backward and forward linkages, the Punjab Police said.
Probe Underway To Uncover Wider Network
The investigation will focus on identifying the alleged foreign-based connections and tracing the wider supply chain involved in the procurement and distribution of illegal arms and narcotics.
Punjab Police said it remains committed to dismantling drug trafficking and illegal arms networks and making Punjab a safe and drug-free state.
