Security forces, including the Srinagar Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), carried out anti-sabotage operations around key installations and sensitive areas in Srinagar city, Jammu & Kashmir on Tuesday. The exercise was aimed at strengthening preventive security measures and countering potential threats in the region.
Focus on Vital Installations and Key Zones
The operations were conducted in areas such as Maharaja Bazaar and Amira Kadal, near the Bakshi Stadium — a major venue for Republic Day and Independence Day celebrations in the Kashmir Valley. Security personnel carried out thorough checks and sanitization of targeted zones as part of the anti-sabotage drill.
Strengthening Security Grid
Officials said the joint exercise was intended to reinforce the overall security grid, enhance operational preparedness, and ensure the safety of critical infrastructure and the public. Along with police and CRPF teams, specialized units — including sniffer dogs and explosive detection teams — were reportedly involved in the sweeps to pre-empt any threat.
Routine Preparedness Ahead of National Events
Security sources noted that such anti-sabotage drills and searches are routine and proactive, especially in the run-up to national celebrations, to prevent any disruption or sabotage attempts. These operations form part of ongoing vigilance efforts by law enforcement in the Union Territory.
