A minor dispute over a train door led to the death of a young man on a Mumbai local train. Mayank Lohar, 22, was stabbed to death while traveling on the Churchgate-Nalasopara fast local. The incident occurred late Monday night. Reports indicate that Mayank was traveling in a first-class compartment when he asked a fellow passenger to close the train door. This request sparked an argument between the two regarding keeping the door open.
The accused attacked the victim between Andheri and Borivali stations
According to eyewitnesses, the argument escalated to the point where the accused attacked Mayank with a knife while the train was moving between Andheri and Borivali stations. Mayank, who was critically injured, was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Police stated that both men were traveling in the first-class coach of train number 90663.
Following the argument, the accused allegedly pulled out a sharp weapon and stabbed Lohar in the abdomen, causing severe injuries. After committing the act, the accused jumped from the moving train near platform 6—before it came to a halt at Borivali station at 11:04 PM—and fled the station premises.
The youth died during treatment
Railway officials reported that the emergency response system was activated immediately upon receiving information about the incident. Within minutes of the train’s arrival, Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel reached the coach to assist the injured passenger. A stretcher, porters, and a medical team were summoned, and Lohar was brought out of the coach for treatment. He was taken to the emergency medical room at Borivali station at 11:22 PM, where a doctor examined him. Following medical advice, he was transported by ambulance to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali, where he passed away during treatment.
