Army man and his associate open fire on cafe owner in Mohali on dispute, police arrest1

Mohali : An army man Satwant Singh, who was absent from duty, and his friend Udit Shokin, in a dispute over a loan of just Rs 7,000, launched a deadly attack on a cafe owner Jashanjit Singh. Jashanjit Singh runs a cafe in New Market, Sector 68, Mohali.

While Satwant Singh trying to shoot Jashanjit, Jashanjit caught Satwant’s hand and turned the pistol upwards, due to which he narrowly escaped. Meanwhile, a scuffle broke out between accused Satwant and Jashanjit, in which both were injured.

Accused army man with the police team and recovered pistol

After the incident, the accused Udit fled from the spot. On receiving information about the incident, Phase-8 police station reached the spot and admitted the injured to the Civil Hospital in Phase-6. Based on Jashanjit’s statement, the police has registered a case against Satwant Singh and Udit Shokin. Satwant has been arrested, while the police is conducting raids in search of Udit.

Police recovered a pistol from absentee army man 

initial investigation has revealed that the accused Satwant Singh is posted in the army, but he is currently absent from his duty. Police have recovered a 45 bore pistol, two live cartridges and two shells from him. Police are trying to find out from where Satwant got this pistol.

Dispute over not paying money
DSP City-2 Harsimran Singh Bal said that Jashanjit Singh is a resident of Sector-70. In his statement, he said that Udit Sekhon, a resident of Gilco Valley, often came to his cafe to eat tea and parathas. During this time, Udit incurred a debt of Rs 7,000, which he refused to pay even after repeated requests and kept making one or the other excuse.
