Redemption Moment for Nitin Gupta
The 18-year-old’s victory comes after a controversial setback earlier in the season, when he was disqualified following a protest in a national-level race walk event. The Athletics Federation of India celebrated his gold, calling it a “sensational” performance on X.
Sadhna Ravi Secures Silver in Triple Jump
In the women’s triple jump, Sadhna Ravi claimed silver with a best effort of 12.84m (+0.5). China’s Yiqing Xie won gold with 13.36m (+1.3), while Kazakhstan’s Mariya Chshipacheva took bronze with a personal best of 12.70m.
India also had earlier success with a bronze in the women’s 100m and a promising decathlon performance by Rahul Jakhar, keeping the country in strong medal contention at the championships.
