As the world’s tallest statue — the Statue of Unity stands sentinel over the Narmada, its gaze this November will fall upon a vibrant celebration of India’s diversity and oneness. From November 1 to 15, the tranquil expanse of Ekta Nagar will transform into a living mosaic of India through the celebration of Bharat Parv 2025, a festival that pays tribute to the idea of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat One India, Great India.
Organized under the guidance of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and the Government of Gujarat, Bharat Parv is not merely an event, it is an embodiment of India’s collective spirit. The festival follows the observance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on October 31, marking the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India who forged the country’s unity in the crucible of freedom.
This year’s celebrations are particularly significant, with the Statue of Unity and its surrounding marvels, from the Valley of Flowers and Aarogya Van to the Cactus Garden and Narmada Ghat Aarti, serving as the perfect backdrop for a national festival that harmonizes India’s myriad cultures, cuisines, and crafts.
A Festival of States, A Symphony of Cultures
Bharat Parv 2025 is structured around the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) state pairing concept, where each day celebrates a unique pairing of states and union territories. From Punjab and Andhra Pradesh to Tamil Nadu and Jammu & Kashmir, Maharashtra and Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh and Meghalaya, the schedule unfolds as a cultural relay of dance, music, and tradition.
Each pairing offers visitors a journey through India’s living traditions, from folk performances and handloom exhibitions to culinary experiences that traverse from Kashmiri wazwan to Tamil chettinad, from Manipuri bamboo craft to Rajasthani blue pottery. The food courts and craft bazaars, set amid Ekta Nagar’s scenic landscape, will feature artisans and vendors from across the nation, ensuring that every visitor tastes and touches a piece of India.
Adding modern flair to tradition, the Studio Kitchen curated by the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Gandhinagar will showcase live culinary demonstrations, while theme pavilions from various states and ministries will employ interactive technology, including AR/VR, to exhibit their unique tourism and cultural offerings.
A National Celebration Anchored in Patel’s Legacy
That Bharat Parv is held at the Statue of Unity is not a coincidence, it is symbolic. Sardar Patel’s monumental contribution in integrating 562 princely states into a united India provides the moral and historical anchor of this celebration. His vision of a strong, inclusive India finds a contemporary reflection in this festival where every state stands shoulder to shoulder, not in competition but in collaboration.
The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas programme, featuring a ceremonial parade by CAPFs and state police forces, a cultural show by the Ministry of Culture, and an address by the Prime Minister, will set the tone reaffirming that unity in diversity is India’s truest strength.
Tourism, Tradition, and Transformation
Beyond cultural symbolism, Bharat Parv serves as a catalyst for tourism, rural livelihoods, and cultural preservation. The event, which has witnessed a rising annual footfall surpassing 60 lakh visitors in 2024–25 reflects how cultural tourism can become an engine of economic and social vitality.
With over 100 craft and food stalls, theme-based exhibitions, and interactive performances, Bharat Parv is also an ecosystem where artisans, small vendors, and performers gain national visibility and income embodying Atmanirbhar Bharat in spirit and practice.
A Message to the Nation
In a time when differences often dominate discourse, Bharat Parv offers a resounding reminder of what binds us together. At Ekta Nagar, the story of India unfolds not through speeches but through song, flavour, and colour through shared experiences that echo the pluralism envisioned by Sardar Patel.
The reflection shimmering off the Narmada waters will not just be of the towering Statue of Unity, but of a nation reaffirming its oneness vibrant, inclusive, and proudly diverse.
In celebrating Bharat Parv, India celebrates itself, its people, its cultures, and its unbreakable unity.
