Mahakaleshwar Temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas
The Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple in Ujjain is one of the 12 sacred Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. This ancient temple is located on the banks of the Kshipra River in Madhya Pradesh and attracts devotees from across the country.
According to religious beliefs, the Shivalinga enshrined in the temple is swayambhu, meaning it is believed to have appeared on its own. It is believed that this Shivalinga radiates power on its own, while other Shivalingas are established through religious rituals and mantras.
