Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar faced heavy criticism after he removed a female doctor’s hijab during a public event.
“Cabinet Minister Jama Khan Defends Nitish Kumar”
Amidst the controversy, Bihar Cabinet Minister Jama Khan strongly supported the Chief Minister and said there was no ill intent behind the incident. Speaking to the media, Khan said, “Everyone knows about Nitish Kumar. He works for every section of society. The female doctor is like a daughter to him. Nitish Kumar welcomed her affectionately, like a father or guardian. He was proud that a daughter from a minority community achieved success in his government.” Khan also accused the opposition of unnecessarily politicizing the issue.
FIR and threats discussed after the controversy
The incident occurred on December 15 at the Samvad Hall, when Nitish Kumar distributed appointment letters to 1,283 AYUSH doctors. Following the controversy, a woman filed an FIR against the Chief Minister in Lucknow. Jama Khan dismissed reports of an alleged threat from a Pakistani don, saying, “This is India. People can make threats, but it’s of no consequence. We are Indians and we fear no one.”

Dr. Parveen had long aspired to become a doctor and was scheduled to join government service on December 20.
