Patiala: Former Punjab minister and senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia was released from Nabha jail in Patiala on Tuesday. He greeted his supporters with folded hands and twirled his moustache, showing confidence and strength.

His wife Ganieve Kaur was also present during his release.

Majithia Thanks God and Supporters

After leaving jail, Majithia said,
“Thank you Sri Guru Granth Sahib and Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj.
Guru Sahib’s grace has always been with me.”

He added that the more the government tried to suppress him, the stronger he became.

Majithia’s release was delayed by several hours due to legal and procedural formalities, with his legal team remaining inside the jail for much of the day. His wife also arrived at the jail premises as hundreds of SAD workers and supporters gathered outside amid tight security arrangements.

As he exited the prison, Majithia twirled his trademark moustache and was received by party workers, many of whom raised slogans in his support. He was later taken atop an open jeep as supporters escorted him out of the area.

Supporters’ Prayers Helped

Majithia thanked the people of the Majitha constituency, especially women, for praying for him.
He said their support gave him strength to fight against the government.

Plans to Visit Gurdwara

SAD spokesperson Arshdeep Kler said that the Supreme Court order for bail was updated late, so paperwork was completed only after that.

Majithia will first visit Gurdwara Sahib in Patiala, and then may go to Amritsar or Chandigarh.

Bail Granted by Supreme Court

Majithia was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Monday in the disproportionate assets case.
He was in Nabha jail for seven months.
