New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday appointed senior Bihar leader and minister Nitin Nabin as its new National Working President, replacing incumbent party chief J.P. Nadda.
The decision was taken by the BJP’s parliamentary board and marks a significant organisational shift as the party prepares for upcoming electoral and political challenges.
Nitin Nabin is currently a Cabinet Minister in the Bihar government, holding the Public Works Department (PWD) portfolio, and is a four-time MLA from the prestigious Bankipur Assembly constituency in Patna. Known for his organisational skills and grassroots connect, Nabin belongs to the Kayasth community and is considered a disciplined and hardworking leader within the party.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Nitin Nabin on his appointment, describing him as a young and “industrious leader with rich organisational experience.”
In a post on X, PM Modi highlighted Nabin’s impressive record both as an MLA and as a minister in Bihar, noting that he has consistently worked to fulfil people’s aspirations.
“He is known for his humble nature and grounded style of working. I am confident that his energy and dedication will strengthen our Party in the times to come,” the Prime Minister said.
Who is Nitin Nabin?
Born into a political family, Nitin Nabin is the son of late BJP leader Nabin Kishore Sinha, who was a respected figure in Bihar’s political circles. Carrying forward his father’s legacy, Nabin entered public life through student politics and was actively associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). His early years in student activism helped him build a strong ideological foundation and organisational discipline.
Nabin gradually rose through the ranks of the BJP by strengthening the party’s base in Patna. His consistent work at the booth and organisational level earned him recognition among senior party leaders. He entered electoral politics in the late 2000s and achieved his first major electoral success in 2010, when he was elected as an MLA from Bankipur. Since then, he has retained the seat multiple times, emerging as one of the BJP’s most prominent urban faces in Bihar.
As National Working President, Nitin Nabin is expected to play a key role in organisational coordination, strengthening the party’s cadre, and supporting the central leadership in executing the BJP’s political and electoral strategy across states. His elevation is seen as a blend of organisational experience, generational leadership, and regional balance within the party’s top hierarchy.
