New Delhi, Oct 30: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has filed a complaint with the Election Commission (EC) against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for allegedly making derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an election rally in Bihar.
The complaint comes after Gandhi, while addressing a public meeting in Muzaffarpur’s Sakra, claimed that the Prime Minister was “ready to dance” to secure votes.
Rahul Gandhi’s Comment Sparks Political Controversy
Launching a scathing attack, Gandhi while addressing a rally in Muzaffarpur’s Sakra said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was even “ready to dance” to get votes.
The remark quickly drew backlash from BJP leaders, who termed it disrespectful and unbecoming of a national leader.
BJP Demands Strict Action from Election Commission
Following the statement, BJP leaders approached the Election Commission, accusing Rahul Gandhi of violating the Model Code of Conduct and using derogatory language during an active election campaign.
Bihar Poll Campaign Heats Up
The complaint comes amid a highly charged political atmosphere in Bihar, where both the ruling NDA and the opposition Mahagathbandhan have intensified their campaigns.
Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, the opposition alliance’s chief ministerial face, jointly addressed their first set of rallies, while Union Home Minister Amit Shah also held multiple public meetings across the state.
Political observers say the controversy over Gandhi’s remark may further polarize the campaign as leaders trade sharp barbs in the final phase of electioneering.
