Indore: A political controversy erupted after comedian Pulkit Mani mimicked Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi’s “Schools’ Echoes” event.
The comedian imitated Prime Minister Modi’s speaking style and mannerisms. He also made references to the Prime Minister’s foreign policy, his interactions with world leaders, and his late mother. Rahul Gandhi was present on stage during the performance.
BJP leaders criticize
Several BJP leaders objected to the performance. A post from the BJP’s National X account stated that Prime Minister Modi had shown respect and affection towards an elderly woman, while the same woman was allegedly mocked at Rahul Gandhi’s event.
Several BJP leaders, including Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union Minister Prahlad Joshi, also criticized the incident.
Mother should not be made a political subject’
BJP leaders specifically questioned the reference to Prime Minister Modi’s late mother. Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje said that political differences are natural in a democracy, but it is not appropriate to involve a deceased family member in a political discussion.
