Security agencies in Ludhiana are on high alert just before Republic Day on January 26th. Panic has gripped the city after another threatening email was received, this time threatening to bomb the judicial building of the city.
Following the email received by officials, police and bomb disposal squads have cordoned off the entire complex. As a precaution, lawyers and staff have been advised to stay away from their chambers.
Vipin Saggar, President of the Ludhiana District Bar Association, said that an email was received at 8:15 AM threatening to bomb the court building. Upon receiving the information, the police administration was immediately called to the scene, and a bomb disposal squad was deployed.
The threat was issued a few days back too
As a precautionary measure, no one is currently being allowed inside the court premises. A thorough search is being conducted. An email with a similar threat was received a few days ago, and this is the second such email.
It is worth noting that a threatening email was also received six days ago, causing chaos in the court complex. Following today’s email, stringent security measures have been put in place at the court premises. A search operation is being conducted by the police and the bomb disposal squad. No one is being allowed to enter the court complex until the search is over.
