Surrey Police release Photos of 7 Punjabis in Canada ransom case

Jalandhar: On May 6, the Surrey Police Service (SPS) in Canada released photographs of seven Punjabi youths, expressing suspicion regarding their involvement in extortion activities. The police state that these youths may be involved, in some capacity, in extortion incidents that have occurred in Surrey. Notably, the police had deported one of these youths just three days prior.

Two Punjabis Deported from Canada Over Criminal Activities

According to the police, all these individuals are Indian nationals who have been involved in serious criminal activities and are part of violent networks. Among them, Prabhjot Singh (20) and Lavbir Singh (22) were arrested due to suspicious activities and have since been deported from Canada.

₹1.5 Crore Reward Announced in Canada Ransom and Shooting Cases

Other accused individuals include Harjot Singh (21), Taranvir Singh (19), and Dayajit Singh Billing (21), who were apprehended following a shooting incident at Crescent Beach on February 1, 2026. Additionally, Harshdeep Singh and Hanspreet Singh have been implicated in a separate weapons-related incident that took place on January 26. The police have also announced a reward of $250,000—approximately 1.5 crore rupees for anyone providing information that leads to the conviction of these criminals.
