New Delhi: Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand will arrive in New Delhi on an official visit on Tuesday. During her visit, she will meet Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar on Wednesday. Issues such as trade, energy, people-to-people contacts, security, and defense cooperation between the two countries will be discussed in this meeting.
11th Meeting Since September 2025
This will be the 11th meeting between the Foreign Ministers of India and Canada since September 2025. The purpose of this meeting is to advance cooperation on the priorities set out under the bilateral roadmap. The Canadian government has described the ongoing dialogue between the two countries as part of the growing bilateral relationship.
The two countries will discuss expanding cooperation in several areas to strengthen their economic and strategic partnership.
Will also meet Union Minister Jayant Chaudhary
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Anita Anand will also meet Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, in New Delhi.
In addition, she will participate in the Bloomberg New Economy Forum, where she will participate in a panel discussion on the changing global order and the role of middle powers in international politics.
Emphasis on cooperation in India and the Indo-Pacific region
According to Global Affairs Canada, Anita Anand will emphasize the importance of multilateral and inter-state cooperation in times of geopolitical uncertainty. She will also present Canada as a reliable partner for India and the broader Indo-Pacific region.
After her visit to India, Anita Anand will travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). There, she will hold talks with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the UAE.
The meeting took place in New York in September
S. Jaishankar and Anita Anand last met in September during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
After that meeting, Jaishankar wrote on the social media platform X, “It is always a pleasure to meet Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand. Our discussions were fruitful as we prepare to take our relationship to the next level.”
