In a major operation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a Senior Section Engineer while he was accepting a bribe of ₹66,000 at the Jalandhar Cantt railway station. A CBI team from Chandigarh conducted this operation at the Bridge Workshop located in Jalandhar Cantt. Following the arrest, the accused officer was taken to Chandigarh for interrogation and further legal proceedings.
A railway contractor had lodged a corruption complaint against Milind, a Senior Section Engineer posted at the railway Bridge Workshop in Jalandhar Cantt. The contractor alleged that the engineer was demanding a bribe in exchange for settling outstanding bills and resolving work-related matters. Taking the complaint seriously, the CBI (Chandigarh unit) conducted a preliminary inquiry. Upon finding the allegations to be true, the team laid a trap and arrested the accused red-handed.
Caught red-handed while accepting ₹66,000
As part of the plan, a special team led by CBI Inspector Kuldeep Singh raided the Bridge Workshop in Jalandhar Cantt. The moment the complainant contractor handed over the bribe amount of ₹66,000 to Senior Section Engineer Milind, the CBI team—which was lying in wait—arrested him on the spot.
Team took the accused to Chandigarh
After recovering the bribe money and completing the necessary legal formalities, the CBI team took the accused engineer, Milind, into custody and left for Chandigarh. He is currently undergoing intensive interrogation there regarding the case. The CBI is also investigating whether any other railway official or employee is involved in this bribery case.
RPF confirms the operation
Inspector Ravinder Kumar of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) station at Jalandhar Cantt confirmed the operation. He stated that the entire raid was conducted by the CBI team and that the local RPF played no direct role in it. He added that the CBI’s Chandigarh office would release detailed information regarding the case and any further legal action.
