If vehicle not released within month, it will be auctioned; says Chandigarh Police order

People are not coming forward to get their seized vehicles released by the Chandigarh Police. Vehicles are seized by police for various reasons. When the police sent notices to people’s homes, it was discovered that the owners did not live at the addresses listed on the vehicles.

Sector 31 police have given such vehicle owners a last chance. They have been asked to release their vehicles within a month; otherwise, the cars will be auctioned by the police.

Many luxury cars are also parked in police stations.

The Sector 31 police station has identified 106 such vehicles for which notices were sent, but were not claimed. These include cars, scooters, Activas, and autos. Many of the cars are luxury cars. The police have now issued a notice to these vehicle owners, and the vehicles will then be auctioned.

The reason behind this is that the police stations will be vacated because a petition related to the police stations has been filed with the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Vehicles also have addresses in Haryana and Rajasthan

Police have discovered that these vehicles are not only located in Chandigarh, but also in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh. According to the police, these vehicles are not just one year old, but range from 2011 to 2024. Experts believe there are several reasons for the vehicles not being released.

Meanwhile, new laws mandate police stations to dispose of seized vehicles within 30 days.
