Bomb Threat Forces Evacuation at Chandigarh Schools

Chandigarh: Schools in Chandigarh received another bomb threat. Two school administrators dismissed students and sent them home after receiving the threat email. Police have tightened security at the schools following a complaint.

The bomb threat was received via email at Vivek High School in Sector 38 and Gurukul Bhavan Vidyalaya in Manimajra. Chandigarh Police went on alert upon receiving the information, and bomb squads and investigation teams immediately arrived at the scene.

This was written in the threatening mail

Screenshots of a threat mail have surfaced, which calls for blowing up Chandigarh schools at 1:11 pm and the Punjab Secretariat at 3:11 pm. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was also threatened.

The email then read, “Chandigarh is Khalistan. Save your children from the bomb blast. We will get justice for Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Bomb blasts will occur throughout Chandigarh in the next two days. Take the Canada Pension Plan funds back to Canada. India will be divided.”

Police evacuated the school premises as a precautionary measure and evacuated the children safely. A thorough search of the entire campus was then launched.

The email included names like Kundan International in Chandigarh, Mount Carmel in Chandigarh, Banyan Tree, Sanpis School, and Gurukul Bhawan School in Manimajra. Schools were alarmed when they received the threatening email. School management immediately messaged parents, urging them to take their children home. Parents rushed to the school and took their children home.

Meanwhile, Vivek High School stated that the police conducted an investigation in the morning and found no objectionable items inside. Some parents are coming to pick up their children, but the school has not declared any holidays. The police investigation is complete and nothing was found.
