Chandigarh: Rail traffic on the Delhi-Ambala section will remain disrupted from May 30 to June 6 due to technical railway works being carried out between Shahabad Markanda and Mohri railway stations. During this period, several key trains passing through Chandigarh Railway Station have been cancelled, diverted, or rescheduled.
According to the Ambala Division of Northern Railway, a six-day Pre-Non-Interlocking (PNI) block and a one-day Non-Interlocking (NI) block will be implemented to facilitate the extension of loop lines and the installation of a new Electronic Interlocking (EI) system at Shahabad Markanda and Mohri stations.
As per the information released by the Railways, 22 trains will remain completely cancelled during this period, while 29 trains will be operated via diverted routes. Additionally, 8 trains have been rescheduled, and 20 trains have been regulated. This will impact thousands of passengers traveling to and from Chandigarh.
Garib Rath, Shatabdi and Vande Bharat Trains Also Affected
The Ajmer-Chandigarh Garib Rath Express (12983) has been cancelled on May 31 and June 2. Conversely, the Chandigarh-Ajmer Garib Rath Express (12984) will not run on June 1 and June 3.
The New Delhi-Chandigarh Shatabdi Express (12045/12046) and the Ajmer-Chandigarh Vande Bharat Express (20977/20978) will remain completely cancelled on June 6.
Routes of Several Long-Distance Trains Diverted
On June 2, the Chandigarh-Yesvantpur Karnataka Sampark Kranti Express (22686) will be operated via the Ambala-Saharanpur-Meerut-Ghaziabad route. During this period, the train will bypass Panipat and New Delhi stations.
Similarly, the Chandigarh-Madgaon Goa Sampark Kranti Express (12450) will be operated via a diverted route on June 1.
