The Chhattisgarh High Court has granted anticipatory bail to a retired IAS officer in connection with the alleged inter-state liquor policy scam currently under investigation by state authorities.
The retired bureaucrat had moved the High Court seeking pre-arrest protection after being named in connection with alleged irregularities in the implementation of the state’s liquor policy. The allegations reportedly relate to suspected financial misconduct and procedural lapses involving liquor trade operations across state borders.
While granting anticipatory bail, the High Court directed the officer to extend full cooperation to investigating agencies during the probe and comply with all terms and conditions imposed by the court.
The inter-state liquor policy scam pertains to alleged irregularities in the framing and execution of excise and liquor distribution policies in Chhattisgarh. Investigators are examining whether senior officials, private contractors, and liquor syndicates were involved in manipulating policy decisions and trade operations for undue financial benefit.
The case has triggered considerable political and administrative scrutiny in the state, with opposition parties and officials closely monitoring developments in the investigation.
Authorities have said the probe into the wider alleged scam remains ongoing, and further legal proceedings are expected in the coming days as investigators continue to examine the matter.
