Amritsar: A tragic accident late Saturday night in the Shingar Avenue area of Chheharta, Amritsar, has plunged an entire family into deep shock. While playing, 3-year-old Vansh an innocent child, lost his life after being struck by a bullet fired from his father’s licensed pistol; his grandmother, who was standing nearby, also sustained injuries. The injured woman was immediately admitted to a private hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.
Loaded Pistol Left on Bed Led to Tragic Accident
According to reports, the child’s father, Sajan, had taken his children to school earlier that morning for a parent-teacher meeting. He was carrying his licensed pistol with him. Upon returning home, while changing his clothes, he placed the loaded pistol on the bed. In the meantime, while playing, young Vansh picked up the pistol, and the trigger was accidentally pulled. The bullet passed through the child’s body and subsequently struck his grandmother, who was standing close by.
The incident triggered an outburst of screams and wailing within the family. Relatives immediately rushed the child and the injured woman to the hospital, but doctors pronounced Vansh dead upon arrival. It is reported that Vansh was a twin, and his sudden death has left the family completely devastated.
Police Investigating Every Angle
Upon receiving information about the incident, a team from the Punjab Police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. Balwinder Singh, the SHO of the Chheharta Police Station, stated that preliminary investigations suggest the incident was an accident caused by negligence. According to the police, the pistol was in an unlocked state, which allowed the child to pick it up easily. Currently, the police have initiated proceedings under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) and are thoroughly examining every aspect of the case.
