New Delhi: A delegation of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is scheduled to meet Union government ministers on Friday as the Centre moves ahead with tougher measures to tackle examination paper leaks. The meeting comes amid the party’s ongoing protest over the alleged NEET paper leak and growing calls for reforms in India’s examination system.
The discussions will be held at the Constitution Club of India, after the Centre accepted the CJP’s request for talks at a neutral venue instead of government offices.
Talks to Be Held at Constitution Club
Confirming the development, CJP member Sourav Das said the party welcomed the government’s decision to hold the meeting at a neutral location.
The CJP has been staging a sit-in protest at Jantar Mantar, demanding accountability for alleged irregularities in national-level examinations and seeking sweeping reforms to restore trust in the examination process.
CJP’s Key Demands
The party has reiterated its demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, holding him responsible for the handling of the NEET paper leak controversy.
Apart from seeking the minister’s resignation, the CJP is also demanding:
- Comprehensive reforms in the education and examination system.
- Stronger accountability mechanisms.
- Effective measures to prevent future examination paper leaks.
- Greater transparency in the conduct of competitive examinations.
These issues are expected to dominate Friday’s meeting with Union Ministers.
Centre Preparing Tough Anti-Paper Leak Law
The meeting comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the government is preparing a comprehensive law to deal more strictly with examination paper leaks.
In a video message posted on X, the Prime Minister said that tougher action against paper leaks would be considered at the Union Cabinet meeting, with the proposed legislation expected to be introduced in Parliament during the ongoing Monsoon Session.
The proposed law is likely to include stricter legal provisions and harsher punishments for those involved in examination-related fraud.
PM Modi Assures Students
Addressing students and parents, Prime Minister Modi acknowledged the anxiety caused by paper leak incidents and said the government is committed to protecting the future of students.
He stated that over the past two-and-a-half months, authorities had taken action against those responsible for examination irregularities, leading to multiple arrests.
The Prime Minister also said that despite the controversy, the government ensured examinations for nearly 22 lakh students were conducted without further delay and that results were declared on July 19, allowing successful candidates to move forward with admissions.
Legislation Alone Not Enough, Says CJP
Despite welcoming dialogue with the government, the CJP has maintained that stricter laws alone will not resolve the issue of examination malpractice.
The party insists that fixing accountability at the highest level, including the resignation of the Education Minister, remains essential for restoring public confidence in India’s examination system.
Friday’s meeting is expected to focus on both immediate reforms and the government’s proposed anti-paper leak legislation, which could significantly reshape the legal framework governing public examinations.
