Himachal Weather: IMD forecast of rain and snowfall in the high altitude areas of state, fog alert in the plai

Himachal Pradesh: Today, rain and snowfall are forecasted in the higher regions of five districts in Himachal Pradesh. This change in weather is expected due to the activity of a western disturbance. Meanwhile, the minimum temperatures have been recorded below zero in four locations across the state. Light fog has been observed in Bilaspur. According to the Meteorological Center in Shimla, there is a possibility of rain and snowfall on November 23 in the higher areas of the Chamba, Kangra, Kinnaur, Kullu, and Lahaul-Spiti districts.

As a result, a decrease of 1-2 degrees in both maximum and minimum temperatures can be expected over the next three to four days. Meanwhile, clear weather is predicted for the next seven days in other parts of the state. The sun is shining in Shimla today. The department has issued a yellow alert for dense fog expected in Bilaspur and Sundernagar during the morning and evening hours.

The Mandal district administration is fully prepared to tackle any disaster during snowfall. Deputy Commissioner and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, Apurv Devgan, held a meeting with officials from all departments and directed them to complete their preparations before the snowfall. He instructed officials that each department should appoint one nodal officer for disaster management during the winter season and share their mobile numbers with the District Disaster Management Authority. He emphasized that during snowfall alerts, no officer or employee from the relevant area should leave their work zone.

He directed Public Works Department officials to identify locations where roads are likely to get blocked due to snowfall and to ensure that necessary machinery and operators are deployed in those areas in a timely manner. Deputy Commissioner Apurv Devgan noted that areas such as Chauharghati, Sarajghati, Shikari Devi, Kamarunag, Rohanda, Barot, Parashar, Thunag, Janjehli, and Gadagusauni are expected to experience significant snowfall during the winter season.
