Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday congratulated the Indian women’s cricket team for lifting the ICC Women’s World Cup by defeating South Africa in a spectacular match, saying that the daughters of the state have brought immense pride to the nation.
‘Daughters of Punjab Have Created History’
Interacting with members of the team through video conferencing, the Chief Minister said that the players have not only won the World Cup but also created history by conquering the globe.
“These girls are the pride of the state, and they will be accorded a rousing reception whenever they come back to Punjab,” Mann said.
Players Lauded as Brand Ambassadors of the State
The Chief Minister praised the team members for their dedication and perseverance, calling them the brand ambassadors of Punjab.
“It is a matter of great pride and satisfaction that this Indian cricket team has brought laurels to the country by lifting the Cup,” he said, extending his best wishes to the players for their future endeavours.
Punjab’s Sporting Spirit on the Rise
Mann said that Punjab is scaling new heights of glory as its daughters have brought honour to the state and the country.
He highlighted that many national teams — in cricket, hockey, basketball, and football — are led by players from Punjab.
Victory to Inspire Future Generations
“The team of our daughters has created history, and this will motivate the coming generations to perform well,” Mann said. He added that the entire country feels proud of this marvellous victory and that the daughters of Punjab have carved a niche for themselves in international cricket.
