CM Bhagwant Mann Releases Mawan Dhian Satkar Yojana another Instalment For 37 Lakh Women In Punjab

Tarn Taran: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Thursday attended a state-level programme at Goindwal Sahib in Khadoor Sahib, Tarn Taran, organised under the state government’s ‘Mukhya Mantri Mawan Dhian Satkar Yojana’. The Chief Minister released the October, November and December instalments into the bank accounts of around 37 lakh women across Punjab.

Eligible women from the general category will receive Rs 1,000 per month, while eligible women belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC/ST) categories will receive Rs 1,500 per month. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said the sacred land of Goindwal Sahib was chosen for the programme. He said the government’s responsibility was to collect taxes from people and return that money to them through various schemes and services.

The Chief Minister said the government was working at multiple levels to ensure that facilities reach people. Citing examples, he said the government was working to provide jobs to youth, free electricity to people and water to farmers’ fields. Mann also targeted the Opposition, saying Congress and BJP had only one issue — him.

Government Spending People’s Money On Them: Mann

The Chief Minister said the government was spending people’s money on the people themselves. He said the objective of Punjab government’s schemes was to provide direct benefits to citizens. During the programme, Mann released the instalment under the ‘Mukhya Mantri Mawan Dhian Satkar Yojana’, which provides financial assistance to women and daughters.

Women Above 18 Eligible For Scheme

Under the scheme, eligible women aged 18 years and above are entitled to receive the benefit. There is no limit on the number of eligible women from a single family. The amount is transferred directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

The first instalment was released in July 2026, when three months’ assistance was transferred together. Women from the general category received Rs 3,000, while Scheduled Caste women received Rs 4,500.

Rs 9,300 Crore Budget Provision

The Punjab government has allocated Rs 9,300 crore for the scheme in the 2026-27 Budget. The government has estimated that around 97 per cent of women will be brought under the scheme.
