Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday lauded the Revenue and Land Reforms Department and announced a series of reforms aimed at making land measurement faster, more transparent and citizen-friendly.
Land measurement reforms under ‘Easy Living’ initiative
In a post on X, the Chief Minister said that soon after the formation of the new state government on November 20, 2025, the Seven Resolutions–3 (2025–30) programme was launched to place Bihar among the most developed states in the country. Explaining the intent behind the seventh resolution, ‘Respect for All – Easy Living’, Nitish Kumar said its main objective is to reduce everyday hardships faced by citizens and ensure more accessible and responsive governance. He noted that delays in land measurement often cause inconvenience and lead to avoidable disputes.
Time-bound clearance of applications
To address these issues, the Chief Minister announced that all pending applications for land measurement will be cleared by January 31 through a special land measurement campaign. From April 1, land measurement will be completed within seven working days for undisputed land and within 11 working days for disputed land, once the applicant deposits the prescribed fee. It will also be mandatory for surveyors to upload the measurement report on the designated portal within 14 days from the date of application.
Monitoring mechanism and public feedback
The Revenue and Land Reforms Department will deploy adequate manpower and resources and put in place a robust monitoring and supervision system to ensure strict adherence to timelines. Expressing confidence in the initiative, Nitish Kumar said the reforms would significantly benefit the people of Bihar and make their daily lives easier. He also invited public feedback, asking citizens to submit suggestions on the new system by January 25 through the designated channels.
