New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has written to IAS officer Amneet P. Kumar, wife of Haryana IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar, expressing support in her pursuit of justice and describing the tragedy as stemming from “bias and discriminatory attitudes.”
Kharge Condemns Social Prejudices
In his letter, Kharge said he was “deeply pained, shaken, and rendered speechless” after learning about the suicide of ADGP Y. Puran Kumar, who reportedly struggled against social prejudices and administrative injustices.
He added, “In my long experience, I have witnessed many incidents closely, but this tragic incident, caused by bias and discriminatory thinking, has deeply pained me and all my colleagues fighting for social justice.”
Assurance of Solidarity
Kharge assured Amneet Kumar of Congress’s solidarity, stating: “We all stand with you in this hour of grief. The questions he raised will reach a decisive conclusion. You, too, need to have great patience and courage.”
Earlier, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi had also written to Amneet Kumar, highlighting how prejudiced and biased attitudes among authorities often deprive senior officers of justice.
Administrative Action in Haryana
Meanwhile, the Haryana government transferred Rohtak SP Narendra Bijarniya, one of the officers Amneet Kumar had sought action against, amid the controversy surrounding her husband’s death.
