Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has been admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. According to media reports, she has been admitted for a minor surgery.
However, no official statement has yet been issued by the Congress party regarding her health.
Hospitalized for the third time this year
It is reported that Sonia Gandhi has been hospitalized for the third time this year. Previously, in March, she was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi after complaining of respiratory problems and a persistent cough.
Doctors at that time attributed her problems to the increasing pollution and cold weather, which aggravated her bronchial asthma.
Treatment under doctors’ supervision
Previously, doctors had described her condition as stable, and she was kept under observation for some time. According to reports, her condition is not serious this time either.
Over the past two years, Sonia Gandhi has had to visit the hospital several times for health checkups and treatment. In 2025, she also underwent treatment for a stomach problem.

Sonia Gandhi, 79, is currently a Rajya Sabha MP from Rajasthan. Even after stepping down as Congress President, she continues to play a key role in major party decisions and organizational strategies.
Her presence in the Congress party is still considered a vital part of the party leadership, along with Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
